Research/Creative Interests

Dr. Davis is a school psychologist by training with a background in youth mentoring research. Her research focuses on advancing the science and practice of promoting supportive relationships in schools. She is especially interested in understanding how to effectively measure and increase the quality and availability of teacher-student mentoring relationships to benefit students’ wellbeing and academic outcomes.

What types of “data” do you commonly use?

In my research, I often collect self-report data by surveying or interviewing students and teachers. I recently have delved into the measure development process in my research, creating my own surveys according to best practices in the field. In addition to employing correlations, t-tests, ANOVAs, and multivariate regressions in my work, I also have experience with more advanced techniques (e.g., multi-group analyses, moderation models) and psychometric techniques (e.g., Rasch rating scale models, exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses). I have some background in qualitative research analysis, as well.

What types of collaborations are you open to?

I am open to collaborating with students and other faculty members on projects related to my background and areas of expertise (e.g., school, clinical, and/or community psychology)

What agencies, organizations, or foundations do you have experience with to apply for grants?

  • American Psychological Association
  • National Association of School Psychologists

Student Qualifications

  • Psychology majors interested in conducting school-engaged research
  • Psychology majors interested in attending graduate school in the discipline
  • I am particularly interested in mentoring students from historically marginalized populations
