Research/Creative Interests
I am interested in Bioinformatic projects based on my Ph.D, and on Biostatistics projects based on my ongoing research collaboration with Duke University. I am particularly interested in projects dealing with human health or healthcare.
What types of “data” do you commonly use?
I commonly use both qualitative and quantitative data, especially dealing with descriptions and classifications of people. These include both clinical and genetic data. Typical analyses include principal components analyses, multivariate linear and logistic regression, t-tests, Fisher exact tests, Wilcoxon nonparametric tests, and haplotype analyses. I am also comfortable with factor analyses, genome wide association studies, and protein modeling/evolution/structure based analyses.
What types of collaborations are you open to?
I am open to whatever is allowable for an adjunct professor, especiallly projects that fit the research/creative interests and data analyses mentioned in this profile.
Student Qualifications
- I would prefer that students have at least a simple understanding of one computer programming language and/or statistics if they want their project to include any of the data analyses mentioned elsewhere in this profile.
- I would prefer that the majority of the project be quantitative, not qualitative.
- I do not have a preference for any other characteristic of student, including major.
