COVID-19 Isolation and Quarantine Management
Elon maintains its commitment to support students, faculty and staff who must isolate as a positive case or quarantine as a close contact of a positive case. Contact tracing and support will be conducted by Quarantine Support staff (students) and Human Resources (faculty/staff).
All students who are placed into isolation as a positive case or quarantine as an unvaccinated close contact will isolate or quarantine in their assigned residence. Limited space is available for students who have a documented medical condition to re-locate to another space in campus operated housing. This is usually up to five (5) days. This applies to students who live in campus-owned and operated housing. Quarantine Support Staff will assist with assigning temporary relocation space. Relocation spaces will be on campus unless otherwise indicated.
The following groups will be required to complete isolation or quarantine:
- Students, faculty., staff who test positive either through campus testing, a provider/agency test , or a valid at home test
- Students, faculty, staff who are not up to date on COVID-19 vaccine series and who are identified as close contacts through the contact tracing period. Following the quarantine period, they must wear a well-fitting mask for 10 full days any time they are around others inside their home or in public (including class). They should not go to places where you are unable to wear a well-fitting mask.
The following groups will not be required to isolate/quarantine according to CDC guidance but must follow all safety recommendations:
- Students, faculty, and staff who are up to date on COVID-19 vaccines will not be required to quarantine. However, they must wear a well-fitting mask for 10 full days any time they are around others inside their home or in public (including class). They should not go to places where you are unable to wear a well-fitting mask.
- Students, faculty, staff who had confirmed COVID-19 within the last 90 days (tested positive using a viral test).
Students, faculty, and staff who become symptomatic should test immediately and seek diagnostic consultation with Student Health Services or Faculty/Staff Health and Wellness.
