Signature Initiatives

The Elon Black Alumni Network hosts a variety of events during Homecoming Weekend. Some of the signature events include, the EBAN Awards Ceremony, EBAN Tailgate, Spades tournament and EBAN party.

Established in 2016, the EBAN Mentorship program was created to connect alumni to students and provide support to Black students on campus. The program aims to:

Create a seamless transition from student to EBAN member through networking and mentorship.

Foster personal and professional relationships between students, alumni and EBAN members.

Support current Elon Black students through collaboration with the Center for Race, Ethnicity and Diversity Education (CREDE).

Members of EBAN meet annually for a fall summit that highlights major university updates and strategic planning within the network. The summit also gives alumni the opportunity to provide feedback for future initiatives and is a powerful way to engage and connect graduates within the network.

A traditional ceremony where graduating seniors receive stoles made of Kente cloth imported from West Africa. The Kente cloth’s intricate designs are a visual representation of the story, legacy and values of persons within the African Diaspora. The cloth also symbolizes and celebrates prestige in many African societies. Students have the opportunity to select someone to present them with their Kente cloth and acknowledge their accomplishments thus far.

EBAN strives to connect alumni in regional areas to foster relationships and further connection with the Elon community. Each year, EBAN hosts regional networking events in the following areas: Charlotte, NC, Los Angeles, New York, NY, Northern Virginia and Washington, DC.
