Non-employees include affiliates who work on campus or otherwise work with Elon students, faculty, and/or staff. Examples include independent contractors, faculty affiliates, and volunteers. Some non-employee affiliates are already covered by contracts with Purchasing (which require background checks performed by the company). All non-employees must undergo a background check before working on campus or with our community.
Background checks for non-employees are the same as all employees. The non-employee must consent to the background check first, then the background check is run through a third-party company.

Non-Employee Information Form
The Non-Employee Information form is used to create a record of affiliation with the university.
Ending a Non-Employee’s Affiliation with the University
When the non-employee affiliate has completed their work with the university, you’ll need to submit a personnel action request form (PARF).
