Automatic Doors

Card Readers

As described below door access card swipe readers and associated hardware are to be integrated with the existing card security system (CISCO Access Control) via the campus Ethernet.

Academic Buildings

  • The main entrance door to academic buildings shall have a card access system.
  • Doors, other than the main entrance door, shall be alarmed.

Residential Buildings

  • Main entrances to residential halls housing more than 20 people shall have a card access system.
  • Suite doors, and apartment unit entry doors, will have card access readers if they have more than 20 people each.

Cardreader Hardware by CISCO Corp.

  • Cardreader Hardware by CISCO Corp. will be installed by Elon Universty.
  • Electric Panic Bar exit hardware by Von Duprin Corp EL-3 or retrofit kit for existing mechanichal panic bars to be provided by GC.

Electrical Requirements

  • In the Communications closet–110v/120v AC nonswitched circuit.
  • At the door–110v/120v AC nonswitched circuit for CISCO Power supply.
  • Door contact, card access reader and power transfer hinge to be connected to Reader Interface Module through concealed wiring (i.e. 1/2″ conduit/EMT).

Data/networking Requirements

  • Reader Interface Module installed above the door/ceiling and powered from the communications closet with 2 conductor,18 awg, NS, plenum rated cable (or enclosed in conduit if hard ceiling).
  • Elon will provide campus Ethernet connection in Communication Closet in each building.  Installer to provide wiring from door device to Communication Closet.
  • Reader Interface Module connected to System Controller with 4 conductor, 18 awg, OAS, plenum rated, communications cable (or enclosed in conduit if hard ceiling).

Door Actuators

  • The accessible entry of each building on campus will have:
    • LCN 4642 electric auto equalizer automatic door operator; aluminum finish
    • LCN 931-2 radio frequency receive
    • LCN 967 Radio frequency actuators
  • Actuator will be coordinated with card reader.

Note: 

  • Keyway is provided by Elon.
  • Contractor provides all locks with interchangeable cores (ZERO bitting only).
  • Elon provides pinning, key cutting, and core installation.
  • Contractor submittal for hardware to be sent concurrently to AE and Elon for review.
