There are many free resources available to you from Elon Technology. Browse the sections below to learn more about setting up your email accounts, printing on campus, accessing course information, and more!
All Elon faculty and staff are provided with an Elon account (username and password) that grants access to a variety of resources including email, Moodle, and campus computers.
Staff and Faculty may use OnTrack to review budgets, submit and/or approve bi-weekly timesheets, view payroll vouchers, view vacation/sick leave, and more. Faculty may also use OnTrack to access class rosters, view advisee files, and enter grades online. Please remember that your OnTrack password may be different than your Elon username and password.
Communication & Collaboration
All Elon faculty and staff are provided with an official Elon email account through Microsoft Office 365. To check your email, use one of the following supported email clients:
- Microsoft Outlook 2016 (for Windows)
- Microsoft Outlook 2016 (for Macs)
- Outlook Web Access (access email/calendar from a web browser): www.elon.edu/email

OneDrive for Business
OneDrive for Business provides a place in the cloud for faculty and staff to store, share, and sync work files. You can update and share your files from any device and you can even work on documents with others at the same time.
WebEx is a web conferencing tool that allows faculty, staff, and students to collaborate with anyone through impromptu and scheduled meetings. WebEX also allows you to host virtual events or bring a global expert into the classroom.
Remote Access via VPN
The VPN (virtual private network) is used to connect to network resources while off-campus. This is often needed to access Colleague or other restricted applications.
Elon University maintains a robust wireless network throughout campus, including several outdoor areas between buildings.
All events sponsored by faculty or staff must be registered through the Office of Campus Center Operations in the Moseley Center using the 25Live event management system.
When registering an event, it is important to complete and submit the request/registration form no less than ten business days in advance. Registration for off-campus events must be submitted no less than fourteen days in advance. The Campus Center will send you an event confirmation when the event has been approved and all spaces have been assigned. Events may or may not be approved on a case by case basis. Media Services provides equipment and technology support to students, staff, and faculty for a wide variety of projects and events.
Technology Service Desk
The Technology Service Desk is the point of contact for all questions and issues related to technology. The Technology Service Desk can answer questions about software, reset your password, and/or dispatch someone to fix a technology problem in your classroom. Help is just a call or email away!

Teaching & Learning Technology Student Consultants
The Teaching & Learning Technology Student Consultants provide staff, faculty, and students with walk-in technology support in Belk Library. Elite students staff the Belk Library Service Desk and answer a variety of technology questions. Elite students are also available in the TLT office and can provide consultations on a variety of technology topics including Moodle, WordPress, and WebEx.
Moodle is the learning management system utilized at Elon University. Instructors may use the features in Moodle to make course materials available to students, link to resources, post announcements, and more.
Lynda.com (On-Demand Training)
Elon has a partnership with Lynda.com to provide on-demand software training to all campus users. Lynda.com offers over 1,000 video tutorials on leading software topics like Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, audio and video editing applications, and many more. These high-quality tutorials are taught by industry experts and are available 24/7 for convenient, self-paced learning.
Learning On Demand
Learning On Demand is a curated repository of educational videos produced by Elon faculty, staff, and students. Videos are open to the public and include speakers, presentations, campus events, and academic resources.
The Maker Hub is an open workspace where you can use 3D printers, sewing machines, and other equipment for free. Locations include the Collonades and Downtown.
Kaltura is a Moodle plugin that allows you to easily upload videos to your course. Videos are private and only available to students in your course. Kaltura also offers screencasting and automatic captioning of your uploaded videos.
Teaching and Learning Technologies (TLT) provides Scantron (bubble sheet) forms and scoring through our office in Belk Library 115. These forms can be used for multiple-choice quizzes, tests, and exams. Scantrons can be picked up or dropped off Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm.

The University has agreements with Verizon and AT&T to provide mobile phones for those faculty and staff who need them as a part of their work here at Elon. University-owned mobile phones are paid for by your department and must be approved by your supervisor.
Mobile Phone Discounts
As an Elon employee, you are eligible for discounts on cell phones, packages, and accessories.
Faculty and staff may print, copy, and scan from printers located throughout campus. Our print management system makes it easy to send print jobs to your nearest Canon multi-functional printer, whether that printer is in your office or in a building across campus. Download the print driver to send to any Canon multi-functional printer or simply email your document to email@example.com. Retrieving your print job is as easy as tapping into the printer with your Phoenix Card and following the directions on the screen.
Please note that many Canon printers in computer labs and other popular student locations are for student printing and should not be used in lieu of Canon printers located in your departments for departmental printing. As a convenience, IT provides access to the student printing system for faculty and staff. Learn more about student printing.
RightFax enables users to send and receive faxes directly from their computer. To send a fax, you’ll need to request a RightFax account from the Technology Service Desk at (336) 278-5200 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Safety & Security
E-Alert Emergency Text Messaging
Sign up to receive text messages about campus emergencies, class cancellations, and vital weather information through e-Alert. Visit emergency.elon.edu for more information.
Manage your Elon account password through Elon’s Self-Service Password Management site. Use this site to change your password and sign-up to utilize security challenges if you get locked out.
The Phoenix Card is the official Elon ID card for faculty, staff, and students. Use this card to gain access to buildings (after hours), athletic and cultural events, the gym, and to check out books/media/equipment from the library. Using Blackboard, you can place Phoenix Cash on your card; Phoenix cash is accepted at eating establishments across campus and at area restaurants. The Phoenix Card office is located in McCoy Commons 201.
Elon faculty and staff may download up to 5 copies of Microsoft Office from their Microsoft 365 account.
Adobe Creative Cloud
All Elon faculty and staff may access the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite including Photoshop, Illustrator, and AfterEffects. Please contact the Technology Service Desk (336) 278-5200 for more information.
On-Demand Software (via VirtualApps)
Before you buy software, be sure to check out software available via VirtualApps. Currently available software on VirtualApps includes IBM SPSS Statistics, Kinovea, SAS, and Wolfram Mathematica. This software is available 24/7 and can be accessed anywhere in the world with an internet connection.
