Fitness Spaces and Capacities

  • Stewart Fitness Center, the main campus fitness space in Koury: 20
  • Koury Studio 5, which has been converted to a small fitness center: 3
  • PARC Fitness Center: 5


All fitness spaces, including Stewart Fitness Center, Studio 5, and the PARC fitness center require users to reserve workout times. All workout times are 60 minutes, with 30 minutes between sessions for staff to clean the facilities and equipment. Reservations will be scheduled through IMLeagues. If you don’t already have an account, you can create one on IMLeagues or by downloading the IMLeagues app – you must use your Elon email address to create an account.

The reservation window opens every Thursday at noon for the following week. To reserve a workout time:

  • Select the “Workout Reservations” tab from the Elon page on IMLeagues to see available times
  • You can only select one workout time per day
  • If the time you want is full, you can add your name to the wait list and you will be contacted if a spot becomes available
  • You must have a reservation to use Stewart Fitness Center, Studio 5 Fitness Center, and the PARC Fitness Center – walk-ups will not be permitted

North Carolina Guidance for Fitness Facilities

All facility policies and protocols are, at minimum, in compliance with the following guidance for fitness facilities and gyms:

Face Coverings

Face coverings must be worn unless participating in strenuous activity and physical distance is able to be maintained. Several pieces of equipment have been removed from the fitness center so that there is significant space between pieces of equipment, especially in areas with cardio equipment. However, there are several situations where patrons must continue to wear masks:

  • When checking into the facility and walking throughout/between spaces
  • In restrooms and common spaces
  • When moving between pieces of equipment in the fitness center
  • When spotting and being spotted – both must wear a mask
  • In the stretching area and on “mask required” marked pieces of equipment
  • Any time physical distancing cannot be maintained, regardless of how strenuous the activity is

Enhanced Cleaning and Safety Protocols

  • 30 minutes between fitness center reservations and programs/events throughout the facility
  • Patrons tap their own Phoenix Card when checking in and the towel service has been suspended to limit contact between staff and patrons
  • Multi-use equipment cleaning rags have been replaced with disposable towels
  • Increased staffing for additional coverage and cleaning
  • Monthly facility deep cleaning will increase to weekly
  • All check-out equipment will be cleaned and disinfected between each use
  • Patrons should adhere to the dress code (tops must fully cover the torso, front and back) and clean equipment before and after use
  • The guest policy is suspended – only Phoenix Card holders may reserve/use RecWell facilities
  • Showers and changing areas in locker rooms are closed
