Bud Harrelson '99 (he/him/his) is a Ph.D. in Education student at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he studies education policy, leadership, and school improvement. Bud's research focuses on creating safer schools for LGBTQIA students, families, and employees. As an Elon student, Bud majored in chemistry and science education. In addition to volunteering with the LGBTQIA Alumni Network, Bud serves as the treasurer for Safe Schools NC - a statewide non-profit dedicated to creating safe learning environments for students regardless of actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. Bud also serves on the national training committee for the Boy Scouts of America. Bud lives in Carrboro, NC with his black lab, Brody.

Ashley Fowler currently lives in Washington, DC where she serves as the Program Coordinator for the Human Rights Campaign's international initiative, HRC Global. While at Elon, as an Honors Fellow and Lumen Scholar, Ashley completed an extensive three-year research project examining the development of LGBT rights in Central and Eastern Europe. She is excited to be a part of the LGBTQIA Alumni Network's Leadership Team and looks forward to using her previous experiences and current position to advance the LGBTQIA Elon Alumni Network.

Kyle Whitaker graduated from Elon in 2014 with a degree in English Literature. During his time at Elon, he was involved as a Tour Guide, a member of Orientation's Head Staff, and an executive intern in Student Life. Currently, he is a graduate student at the University of Maryland, where he is pursuing a Masters in Student Affairs and working as a graduate coordinator for Orientation and New Student Programs. He is passionate about LGBTQIA issues, particularly those that impact the student experience, and he is thrilled to be a part of this alumni team to help continue the incredible progress that Elon has made in recent years. Long live Elon!

Jay currently lives in West Lafayette, IN where he serves as the Associate Vice President for Advancement at Purdue University. While at Elon, Jay was a Sport and Event Management major, worked as a University Guide and was involved with Greek Life. In addition to his work with the Network, Jay is involved with multiple community nonprofits. He is excited to be joining the LGBTQIA Alumni Network’s Leadership Team and looks forward to helping to grow the Network’s membership and support of the GLC’s LGBTQIA Fund.

I live in Greensboro North Carolina and have worked in healthcare administration in operations management and philanthropy. I volunteer with the Human Rights Campaign, serving on the national board of governors and co-chairing the local steering committee in the Raleigh-Durham area. As a student at Elon, I was an Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellow and served on the Liberal Arts Forum for four years selecting speakers to bring to Elon and hosting their visits. I majored in English Literature with minors in Religious Studies and Theatre Arts. I enjoyed Elon’s study-abroad programs, spending a winter term in Israel & Egypt and a semester in London. I am excited to be a part of the LGBTQIA Alumni Network to engage Elon alumni and share our success as we lead change and positively impact the world.

Jon Shutt is a Product Manager with Frankly, Inc. in New York City. During his time at Elon as a Communications major, he was involved with student television productions, as well as a coordinator for Orientation. He's very excited to be involved with the LGBTQIA Alumni Network and to help connect proud Elon alumni with each other for support and education.

My name's Eric Hale. I currently live in Cary, NC and teach 1st grade at an amazing charter school in Chapel Hill. As a student at Elon I was a Teaching Fellow and was involved in the Truitt Center and helped to start a volunteer program called Parents Night Out. My newest passions are teaching tennis lessons and playing kickball as part of Raleigh's Stonewall Sports League. I am excited to be a part of Elon's LGBTQIA alumni network and help continue the great work that has already been done.

The Rev. Jonathan Chapman ’07 is the pastor of Westfield Church, United Church of Christ in Killingly, Connecticut. While at Elon, he was an RA, worked with the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, served in various positions for Spectrum, and wrote a weekly column in the Pendulum. He earned a Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology, Emory University where he is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry. He is honored to be joining such terrific colleagues dedicated to a fully inclusive campus.
