Student Organization Development Opportunities

Student organization leaders are required to attend several events each year in order to understand policies/procedures as well as to develop themselves as leaders.

Spring Opportunities

  • Student Leader Training: Tuesday, February 4, 2020 – Upstairs Lakeside
Each semester, all student organizations are required to send two representatives (typically the president and one other leader) to Student Leader Training, which provides education on institutional policies/practices as they relate to student organizations, as well as the skills required to serve as an effective organization officer.
  • Spring Organization Fair: Thursday, February 6, 2020 – Moseley Student Center
Elon’s annual Organization Fairs are held at the beginning of the fall and spring semesters. This is an opportunity for representatives from your organization to provide information and recruit new members.
  • Org Development Leadershop – Recruitment & Retention: Monday, February 10, 2020
Join the Center for Leadership at 6-7pm in Moseley 217 for an Organization Development Leadershop on recruiting and retaining members. Dinner will be provided for students who register for the event! We will discuss why members join organizations, why they leave, how to motivate them, and how to make sure members do not burn out.
  • Organization Planning Leadershop: Friday, April 24, 2020
The Center for Leadership aims to create opportunities each semester for organizations to have a space to plan ahead for the future of their organizations. This is recommended to be done with the organization advisors, but can also be done solely with student organization leaders. During this leadershop, organizations can plan their calendar, executive board transitions, event coordination, and much more.
