Elon phoenix families FALL 2018

Thank you to our #ElonFamily!

Thank you to all of the families and friends who joined their students back on campus during Family Weekend 2018! Over 1,800 families engaged in the weekend’s activities, including faculty meet and greets, ROCKapella, the football game and coffee with the President. Dates for Family Weekend 2019 have been confirmed! Join us on campus Sept. 27-29, 2019, for another fun-filled weekend. Registration will be available online this summer when our detailed schedule is released.

Elon Dining

The wait is over! McEwen Dining Hall’s residential dining hall opened Oct. 25. We are excited to finally be in our newest dining hall, and we now are shifting our focus to opening the three retail locations in McEwen Dining Hall this month. Stay tuned to our website for news on a grand opening extravaganza as soon as we have opened all locations in this beautiful new building.

As Winter Term approaches, visit our meal plan page to see when meal plans will be active. Fall meal plans end Dec. 15. Winter meal plans begin Jan. 2 and end Jan. 24. Spring meal plans begin Feb. 2.

Mail Services

We encourage students to use their home address for shipping if the delivery date is close to when they will be leaving campus, as Mail Services will not be responsible for forwarding packages if an item is not delivered or picked up prior to Winter Break.

Students studying abroad for Winter Term do not need to forward their mail. However, spring semester program participants should visit www.elon.edu/mail and click "change of address" to fill out the form (link accessible to students only). Students graduating in December have 30 days to update their mailing address with USPS after the end of the term.

Elon Votes!

As part of Elon’s mission to prepare students to be global citizens and informed leaders, we hope to make voting as accessible as possible for our students. To this end, we have assembled resources in a central location to aid in easy voter registration and provide convenient absentee ballots, regardless of the state where a student claims residency.

Residence Life

Please be sure to check the Residence Life website for residence hall closing dates for breaks. This will allow your student to book their travel plans accordingly. If they need to stay late or return early for a break period, they must submit a request (found on the break housing webpage by clicking the "Self Service" link, which is accessible to students only).

Each neighborhood has an office where students can ask any questions related to their room, roommate, or any issues that arise. You can find contact information for all neighborhood offices online.

Break Shuttle Services

Shuttle service is provided to Greensboro’s Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO-PTI) and the Raleigh/Durham International Airport (RDU) at designated break times throughout the year. Students should schedule shuttle trip departures at least two and a half hours prior to flight departures. For a list of available shuttles, and closing dates for registering, please visit the Moseley Center website. For more information, please contact the Moseley Center Information Desk at 336-278-7215 or moseleyfrontdesk@elon.edu.

Health-Related Absences

As the weather becomes more “fall-like” in North Carolina, we begin to see an increase in seasonal allergies, sinus infections, colds, etc. Students who become ill and are unable to attend class should email their professors as soon as possible, typically before the missed class, in order to notify professors and begin a conversation about missed coursework. See more information about health-related absences here. If a student is hospitalized and unable to communicate on his or her own behalf, please contact studentconcerns@elon.edu.

Fall Semester Final Exams

Fall semester final exams are Dec. 10-14. Your student can review their final examination schedule and policies here for travel and planning purposes.

Commencement 2019 Information

The 129th Commencement Exercises will take place Friday, May 24, 2019. The day will begin with a ceremony on Scott Plaza and will be followed by two separate diploma-awarding ceremonies, both held in Schar Center. For more information, please visit the Commencement website.
