Lindy strategically leveraged the summer to take classes that would have been difficult to register in a normal term.

Liam Lindy is a current junior studying Computer Science and Economics. He has completed two of his upper level finance electives with Elon Summer. Given his class standing, Lindy strategically leveraged the summer to take classes that would have been difficult to register in a normal term. Finance recruitment is earlier and getting ahead in upper level businesses classes helped Lindy perform better in his job interviews, as he was able to reference class material from the summer. He plans to utilize Elon Summer again, by taking French I and II to fulfill the entirety of his language requirement in only six weeks. Lindy emphasized that this is an easier and cheaper alternative that will allow him to focus his full attention on classes geared towards his major during a normal term.

Lindy would equate the summer curriculum to an asynchronous J-term class in terms of the level of work and nature of it being online. He describes the workload to be very manageable, but due to it being a semester’s worth of material condensed into three weeks advises students that they’ll need to still be disciplined with their time. Lindy reflects that his professor was available and willing to accommodate him, allowing for him to turn assignments in accordance with his time zone. Additionally, Lindy “liked that Elon Summer is two terms, and by offering classes in two sessions it gives students more flexibility in scheduling.”
