Planning for summer classes
The schedule of classes for Summer 2019 is now available. Students can search and register for available courses on OnTrack. Summer College offers students the chance to catch up or get ahead, repeat a course for a better grade or take a course online from anywhere in the country. If you have any questions about Summer College, please call 336-278-6670.
|Moving out: on- and off-campus information
To ensure a smooth move-out process for summer, please review the following information.
Residence halls will close Wednesday, May 22, at 10 a.m. and on-campus apartments will close Friday, May 31, at 10 a.m. Students should pack and be ready to move all of their belongings before those dates. To arrange a late checkout, students must contact the neighborhood office in advance of the official move-out date. All other students will receive information from their residence life student staff member about scheduling a time to return keys, complete room inspections and check out. To avoid damage charges, it is important for students to review the residence life website and understand damage billing policies.
Elon partners with several nonprofit agencies to accept donations of student goods for reuse and repurposing. The Town of Elon places additional dumpsters around town for students who live off campus to deposit extra trash and debris during the move-out process. Students who live off campus will want to check with their landlords regarding move-out processes and property condition expectations to avoid charges and fines. Students will receive additional information about the move-out process in early May.
|Important Commencement 2019 information
Commencement (Friday, May 24) Important information including a schedule of events, ceremonies, speakers and special needs services can all be found on the Commencement website. It will be updated throughout May, so check back often. During Commencement week, stay up to date on E-Net.
Ceremonies and Tickets: Important information was emailed to participating graduates on Monday, April 8 regarding ticketed admission to the diploma ceremonies in Schar Center. It is the responsibility of all participating graduates to request guest tickets for their guests (1 to 6 tickets) by April 24. This includes participating graduates who completed studies earlier in the academic year, or currently on study abroad or off-campus internship, or for other reasons may not return to campus before Commencement. For more information, please visit our website.
Commencement information will be available after May 20 via the smartphone event app, Elon University Guides, with a specific Commencement 2019 guide. To download the Elon Guides app, visit the Apple App Store or Google Play store, search “Elon Guides” and download.

Pre-registration has additional benefits, including discounts off purchases.
|Elon yearbook - Phi Psi Cli
Celebrate your student's graduation by purchasing a copy of Phi Psi Cli, Elon University’s yearbook! Additionally, parents and families can order a senior ad for the yearbook through April 25. This is your way to share a personal message with your son or daughter. Visit the Phi Psi Cli website to learn more about purchasing a yearbook or senior ad. For questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
|Graduating international students to plant saplings on South Campus
International students from the Class of 2019 will have the opportunity to plant their oak saplings on Elon’s South Campus, continuing a new tradition started with the Class of 2017. These students are not able to take their saplings back to their home countries due to customs restrictions. This tradition establishes a legacy for international students upon graduation, and provides an opportunity to contribute to Elon's sustainability efforts. The planting date for this year’s graduating class of international students is May 22.
|Summer at Elon
Residence Life provides on-campus housing for students taking summer session courses. Students enrolled in summer classes who wish to live on campus should complete the application by May 6. Students who plan to stay at Elon over the summer months will also want to be aware of resources available to them for food, fitness and fun.
|The first summer at home
If your student just completed their first year of college, the homecoming and stay over the course of the summer have the potential to arouse varying emotions and changes in every family member. Your student has created a lifestyle of their own that may not follow the same rules you established before they moved away. By communicating and compromising together, your family can have a happy household this summer.
|Important Mail Services information
Students who will be graduating or leaving campus for the summer can forward their mail by completing the USPS Mail Forwarding/Change of Address form. The form can be picked up at Mail Services or any USPS location. At this time, USPS does not allow students to change their address online. Students are also encouraged to update their address directly with any company or subscription they may have. If a student will be staying at Elon over the summer, they should fill out this form (also available on our website under the Student Mail section) to let us know they will be here and would like to still receive their mail. If a student does not notify us that they will be staying by May 24 and has not properly forwarded their mail, all previously received mail and packages will be returned to sender. Please note the following:
Questions? Contact Mail Services at 336-278-5433, or email email@example.com.
- Elon University Mail Services is not able to forward mail or packages. The Mail Forwarding/Change of Address form must be completed through the US Postal Service.
- It is very important that students change their address with their bank, credit cards, cell phone providers, magazines and other important places of business to ensure they receive their mail and packages after the semester ends.
- Students are strongly encouraged to begin this process as soon as possible, as some companies can take 4-6 weeks to process an address change.
- Graduating seniors have 30 days to update their mailing address after the end of the academic year. Please keep in mind that it may take up to two weeks for USPS to update their system.
Our Elon Dining team has a full season of fun events and great food planned for the rest of this year, like Sustainability events celebrating Earth Week from April 15 - 19, and a Food Truck Frenzy on May 8. Food Dollar and Meal Plan promotions are coming up in the next few weeks. Make sure to visit www.elondining.com, or follow Elon Dining on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter for the latest news and events.
|New Student & Transition Programs
This spring, 33 students completed the Life Entrepreneur Program, a sophomore experience designed to help students explore their passions and values, become alert to opportunities and align their strength and goals in a meaningful way. NSTP also sent New Student Orientation Student Coordinators to a regional conference in March to present educational sessions and represent Elon school spirit. Orientation is in the midst of training 125 fantastic Orientation Leaders to welcome new students to campus in August. The New Student Orientation program is also recruiting volunteers for the Elon Moving Team, a group of students who assist new and continuing students in their residential neighborhoods on Move-In Day. In just a few short months, we will also be welcoming the Global Pathfinders to their summer orientation program. This is a group of 25 new students who will start their Elon journey studying at University College in Dublin, Ireland.
|Student Professional Development Center updates
The Student Professional Development Center (SPDC) continues to serve as an essential resource for students and alumni as they set and achieve their career goals. New this academic year is the opportunity for students to schedule appointments with career advisors directly through the Elon Job Network. Please encourage your student to schedule an appointment, as it is never too late to visit the SPDC!
Looking back throughout the year, the SPDC hosted a variety of successful recruitment events, including the Sales Meet and Greet (fall), Job and Internship Expo (fall & spring), Social Impact Career Fair (fall), Teacher Fair (spring) and Career Connections 2.0 (spring – thank you to parents who participated). The SPDC also hosted many employers on campus to conduct interviews, and while the campus recruiting season is winding down, many employers are still hiring. If your student is seeking a job or internship, please encourage them to visit the SPDC and apply for opportunities on the Elon Job Network. Also, a great way for students to access opportunities is through alumni in The Elon Network on LinkedIn.
