Elon University’s Commencement Ceremonies

Class of 2020 Celebration

Elon will welcome members of the Class of 2020 and their families back to campus for a long-awaited Commencement celebration over Labor Day weekend, Sept. 3-5, 2021.

Several events honoring the Class of 2020 will take place Friday and Saturday, including a Phoenix football game at Rhodes Stadium and an evening celebration. The weekend’s festivities will culminate with formal Commencement exercises, including caps and gowns, on Sunday followed by a brunch at Lake Mary Nell. The ceremony will also be streamed at www.elon.edu/live.

Please note: The time and location of the Commencement ceremony have changed. The ceremony will take place at 9:30 a.m. Under the Oaks on Sunday, Sept. 5.

To protect all participants and the campus community and mitigate the spread of COVID-19, graduates and their guests should bring masks to Commencement Weekend and wear them, per campus policy, in all indoor community spaces (except while eating or drinking). Because the CDC continues to recommend masks outdoors in crowded settings, particularly when unvaccinated people are present, all participants in Commencement will also be required to wear masks outdoors at 2020 Commencement.

Graduates will have an opportunity to be photographed without masks during the ceremony. We encourage all in attendance to be vaccinated. As you plan your arrival, please visit www.elon.edu/healthyelon for gathering guidelines and other university policies.
