An Elon experience with the Kernodle Center

Elon students are active and engaged, both in and out of the classroom. The Kernodle Center for Service Learning and Community Engagement is a wonderful place for students to explore leadership development, learn ways to engage in their communities and discuss difficult social issues. Each year, the Kernodle Center hires over 140 student leaders to plan and implement programs that reach over 3,000 students annually. Leading your peers in service is a great way to learn skills that are useful regardless of career path or major. Students are welcome to contact us or stop by the office to learn more about any of our opportunities. Involvement with the Kernodle Center satisfies one of the five Elon Experiences and is included on the Visual Experiential Transcript.

Health and Wellness

Thanksgiving break and winter break are coming up! By helping schedule medical appointments for your student during the break, you reduce their missed time on campus.

In the meantime, students can schedule appointments to be seen by a licensed medical professional at the on-campus clinic, the R.N. Ellington Center. Elon's Office of Student Health and Wellness also offers health education events throughout the academic year, private counseling sessions that are available through Counseling Services, and Campus Recreation which offers many opportunities to exercise in individual or group settings.

Life after Elon

The Student Professional Development Center (SPDC) has had a very busy fall semester with three major recruiting events during September such as the Job and Internship Expo. The expo drew over 90 organizations to Elon and over 1,000 students representing all academic years and a myriad of majors. Transition Strategies (COE 310) courses are available to Elon students. These courses help guide students in making decisions about careers, preparing to find internships and jobs, applying to graduate school and more as they transition to life beyond Elon. Courses are one-credit electives with themes geared toward majors or career paths while other courses emphasize professional development topics. Encourage your student to take advantage of Elon's outstanding career services and make an appointment for career advising, register for a Transition Strategies course and attend an upcoming career event.
