Undergraduate Conference on Languages & Cultures | September 22, 2018 | Elon University
The Undergraduate Conference on Languages and Cultures at Elon University (UCLC@Elon) provides an opportunity for the
presentation of undergraduate scholarship on world languages and cultures in a target language. Conference presenters
are made up of students currently enrolled in an undergraduate program. The annual conference theme is
“Perspectives on World Languages and Cultures.” Topics ranging from any time period are welcome,
and interdisciplinary works with a strong focus on language and the cultures they represent are of interest.
We invite you to consider visual representations and include media in addition to text.
Analyses of multiple types of texts are encouraged: literary, cinematic, journalistic, etc.
All panel presentations will be made in French, German, or Spanish and poster presentations may be made in any language taught at Elon*.
Presenters and attendees may choose their target language or English for all other scheduled events. We offer a variety of opportunities:
50-minute panels, a plenary address, a professionalization round table discussion, and a poster session.
Conference presentations are selected through a blind review process.
*The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Elon offers courses in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, and Spanish.
