Current Projects

Rethinking geriatric functional norms: Performance on multiple functional outcome measures by over 70 physically active older adults is being used to reaassess the validity of current norms. This ongoing study has been assisted by several DPT students and has resulted in six national presentations and one international presentation.

Timed bed mobility norms: Little has been published on the amount of time it typically takes for a person to lie down or sit up even though these commonplace activities are among the first to be affected by painful mobility. We are timing study participants as they lie down and sit up, with plans to stratify typical times by age and by pain levels.
