Research

My research focuses on attitudes, intergroup relations, and social identity.  I am currently pursuing three main lines of research that focus on these issues.  The first two of these examine correlates of trans prejudice and sexual prejudice (i.e., prejudice based on sexual orientation).  The other focuses on individual differences that influence the quality of intergroup interactions for both majority and minority group members.  In addition to theoretical understanding, I am also interested in how research on prejudice can be effectively applied to increase the quality of intergroup contact, reduce negative attitudes, and benefit stigmatized groups.
