Pat Burton

Patricia Burton came to Elon as Director of Donor Relations in 2016, after spending ten years in increasingly responsible positions in Donor Relations at Williams College in Williamstown, Massachusetts. She was named Senior Director of Donor Relations in 2021.

A member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and the Association of Donor Relations Professionals (ADRP), Pat has participated in several ADRP international and regional conferences. She was active in the Western Massachusetts and Capital Region (Albany, NY, area) ADRP groups and has presented on stewardship topics at the Southeast ADRP Conference, the  N.C. State University Stewardship Roundtable, and the NCICU Development Conference.

Pat has extensive experience in acknowledgment writing, endowment reporting, principal prospect stewardship, event planning, and the donor recognition process.

A graduate of Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY, with a B.A. in English with an Emphasis on Writing, she  worked as a journalist, newsletter editor, teacher, and writing mentor and published several short fiction and nonfiction pieces before starting her career in higher education advancement.
