Brief Biography

Prof. Blake Hament is passionate about Robotics R&D and training the next generation of scientists and engineers. As an undergraduate at Duke University, Blake was a research assistant at the Center for European Nuclear Research (CERN) studying how particle accelerator upgrades would affect the search for exotic subatomic particles. After graduation, he joined Teach for America and earned his Masters in Education while coaching local robotics teams to consecutive podium finishes in the Skybot UAV competition. While conducting his PhD at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Blake worked with partners like Boston Dynamics, Tesla, Lockheed Martin Space, US Department of Transportation, and the Korean National Research Foundation.

Current Projects

Prof. Hament is currently exploring projects related to: 1) robotic assistants for greenhouses and small farms; 2) environmental monitoring in the Smoky Mountains with quadrupeds and UAV; 3) accessibility devices and assistants. As always, he is open to new ideas and invites students to share their ideas for projects.
