Brief Biography

Emily joined the faculty in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the fall of 2022. She earned her B.S. and M.A. in Secondary Mathematics Education from Appalachian State University, where she was also a North Carolina Teaching Fellow during her undergraduate program. She completed her PhD in Learning and Teaching in STEM Education from NC State University, with a focus on Mathematics Education. Her dissertation was titled Teaching Mathematics for Conceptual Understanding: An Examination of Elementary and Secondary Teacher Candidates under the direction of Dr. Cyndi Edgington and Dr. Temple Walkowiak. 

Outside of Elon, she enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and dog.
