Brief Biography

Scott Leighty graduated from Elon University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science with Minors in History and Leadership Studies.  Outside of the classroom Scott was involved with Pi Kappa Phi serving as Philanthropy Chairman, the Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellows Program filling the role of First Year Fellows Director and the Office of Admissions as a University Guide. He was very fortunate to study abroad during Fall 2008 in Costa Rica. 

After Elon, Scott participated in a cross country cycling ride called Journey of Hope with The Ability Experience where raising money and awareness for people with disabilities.  He then worked for a year at the United States Census Bureau as an Analyst gaining valuable insights working with large datasets.  After completing graduate school where he earned Master of Education degree in Higher Education Administration at North Carolina State University, Scott worked for four years at Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity in Chapter Development.


In 2015 he moved to Greensboro and served as a Campaign Manager at United Way of Greater Greensboro before returning to his alma mater to serve as Sr. Alumni Engagement Officer where he worked to spread the Partner, Advocate and Investor message with alumni all over the country.  Scott now serves as the Assistant Director of Annual Giving working with a portfolio of alumni to deepen their engagement and support for Elon.

Scott lives in Greensboro with his wife Kim '08 and his two young children Denny and Claire.
