Brief Biography
I am Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship at Elon University, where I developed, launched, and guide Elon's entrepreneurship and innovation program, including creation of the nationally-recognized course Creativity & the Doer/Maker Mindset and four other courses.
I have also founded, raised millions in funding for, and run two high-growth startups. Knowtro was an antidote to the flood of unreliable information proliferating online. We built a web app that structured complex empirical research so that anyone could easily find, cite, and utilize evidence-based knowledge. Jaywalk anticipated and later provided a solution for the biased investment research produced by Wall Street that lead to the dot com bubble. Jaywalk was a decentralized technology platform enabling global dissemination and trustless vetting of investment recommendations from research firms that were free of conflicts of interest. Knowtro failed to reach viability. Jaywalk was a success; earning acquisition by The Bank of New York and promotion to Managing Director by age 30.
My research has been published in journals such as Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice, Small Business Economics, Applied Psychology, and Journal of Small Business Management.
