Brief Biography

As Manager of Experiential Programs in The School of Communications, Maggie provides student support and works with affinity groups within the school to strengthen engagement, explore undergraduate opportunities including ELRs, study-away experiences, and career readiness. She provides guidance to students navigating the many experiential learning pathways. Maggie closely collaborates with faculty, academic departments, career services, and other university offices to integrate experiential learning into a student’s four-year plan and promote student participation, engagement, and reflection.

She is responsible for cultivating external partnerships, including a robust alumni network, by developing and maintaining strong relationships with businesses, nonprofit organizations, and industry professionals to create meaningful internship and community service-learning opportunities. She supports students in professional development, including résumé building, interview skills, and internship and job searches.

In Maggie’s previous role in Comm she frequently presented at professional conferences, recruited at universities and graduate fairs, and led students on numerous domestic and international study-away experiences. Before joining the School of Communications, Maggie’s diverse career included roles as a teacher, marketing director, lifestyle model, event planner, and puppeteer. She’s also an author, having written a children’s book inspired by her work in education and affinity for dogs and animal rescue.

Maggie holds a degree in early childhood education from James Madison University and has been with the School of Communications since 2008.
