Brief Biography

Dr. Scherich is new to Elon as of Fall 2022!

She is a southern California native who transplanted to the east coast in 2019 for her postdoctoral positions at Wake Forest University, the Univeristy of Toronto and most recently at Brown University. She is delighted to join the Elon community and make a home in North Carolina.

In addition to mathematics, Dr. Scherich is passionate about the performing arts and uses dance a communication tool to explain higher mathematics. To learn more about her research and Math-Dance projects, check out her website http://www.nancyscherich.com.

Research

Dr. Scherich's research is in the area of low dimensional topology and algebra. In particular, she studies knot theory and braid group theory.
