Brief Biography

Zak Kramer joined the Elon University School of Law in Summer 2023 to serve as Dean and Professor of Law. Dean Kramer joined Elon Law from Arizona State University, where he was the Jonathan and Wendy Rose Professor of Law. At ASU, Dean Kramer held several leadership positions, including Interim Dean, Executive Associative Dean, Associate Dean of Faculty, and Associate Dean of Intellectual Life. Before joining ASU Law’s faculty in 2010, he taught at Penn State and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Dean Kramer began his teaching career as the inaugural Charles R. Williams Teaching Fellow at UCLA School of Law. A graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law, he served as the editor-in-chief of the University of Illinois Law Review. He teaches and writes in the areas of property law and civil rights law. His scholarship has appeared in the California Law Reivew, the Duke Law Journal, and the Northwestern University Law Review, among other leading law journals. In 2019, Dean Kramer published his first book, Outsiders: Why Difference is the Future of Civil Rights (Oxford University Press).
