At Campus Recreation & Wellness, safety is always a top priority. This is especially true during the time of COVID-19. As we have prepared for this academic year, it has been our goal to continue providing access to recreational and educational facilities, programs, and services to keep members of the Elon University community safe, active, and well. The spring 2021 website details changes to fitness centers, facilities, and programs, which are in alignment with Ready & Resilient guidelines, as well as a list of online wellness resources.
Love Your Body Week: February 22-26
We are excited for the sixth annual Love Your Body Week, which celebrates body positivity and holistic well-being. This year’s event offers a variety of in-person and virtual programs, including a virtual keynote delivered by Mike Marjama, a professional baseball player who will offer insight about overcoming eating disorders and developing a healthy relationship with food. RecWell to Host Mike Marjama February 24
Campus Recreation & Wellness, as part of its annual Love Your Body Week, is proud to welcome Mike Marjama on Wednesday, February 24 at 7:00pm. Mike is a professional baseball player and nationally recognized speaker. In this keynote address, he will share his journey with trauma, eating disorders, and perfectionism, and how he ultimately learned to live a well-balanced life. Reserve a Workout Time in a Fitness Center
All fitness spaces, including Stewart Fitness Center, Studio 5, Koury racquetball/squash courts, and the PARC fitness center require users to reserve workout times. All workout times are 60 minutes, with 30 minutes between sessions for staff to clean the facilities and equipment. Reservations will be scheduled through IMLeagues. If you don’t already have an account, you can create one on IMLeagues or by downloading the IMLeagues app – you must use your Elon email address to create an account.
The reservation window opens every Thursday at 12:10pm for the following week. To reserve a workout time:
- Select the “Workout Reservations” tab from the Elon page on IMLeagues to see available times
- You can only select one workout time per day
- If the time you want is full, you can add your name to the wait list and you will be contacted if a spot becomes available
- Walk-ups are permitted in all reserved spaces if spots are available after 10 minutes following the start time – anyone who is able to get into the fitness center through a walk-up must still leave the facility at the end of the reservation time
Elon Outdoors Spring Trips
Registration for spring Elon Outdoors trips is open! All trips through March 14 are now posted on our website. We follow CDC, North Carolina, and University travel guidelines. If you would like to plan your own adventure, stop by the Outdoors Resource Center or check out our equipment rental website to get started.
This spring we have a full weekly group exercise class schedule, which is free to all Elon students, faculty, and staff. If you have a group and would like to schedule a private class, email email@example.com. We also have a library of on-demand classes available on the RecWell YouTube channel. If you’re looking for an individualized plan, we offer several different personal training packages.
Stay Healthy with Student Wellness Programs
As we begin the spring, COVID-19 safety is only part of what will keep you physically and mentally healthy. We offer a variety of student wellness programs and resources, including our SPARKS peer educators, across a wide variety of wellness topics, including substance educations, sexual/relationship health, and stress management. Also be sure to stop by Koury Center 146 to check out the SPARKS Office in the Mind-Body Connection Center.
Elon Challenge Offers Team and Group Development
The Elon Challenge is a experiential team development program that focuses on building community and strengthening teams. Whether you come to the course, we come to you, or you participate in a virtual program, we help your group work together to reach beyond their perceived boundaries, overcome obstacles, and experience success in a variety of problem-solving initiatives.
