Reading Buddies Program

Elon teacher candidates volunteer to read books with low-performing eighth graders at Turrentine Middle School. Each Elon volunteer is matched with 3-4 middle schoolers, and each group selects an adolescent novel to read and discuss. Volunteers have included students in ENG 399-Young Adolescent Literature, the North Carolina Teaching Fellows and secondary-certification candidates.
