Brief Biography
Rabbi Dr. Maor Greene (they/them) serves as the Associate Chaplain for Jewish Life. Since joining Elon University in 2022, Maor has built up pluralistic Jewish spiritual life at Elon through student mentoring, ritual leadership, music, and spiritual care. They direct the multifaith internship for the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, empowering students to become leaders in multifaith engagement, education, and community building. Maor also leads the Spirit and Pride initiative, supporting LGBTQIA students in their spiritual lives.
Maor holds degrees from Duke University, Princeton Theological Seminary, Hebrew University in Jerusalem, and Jewish Theological Seminary where they also serve as an adjunct instructor in spiritual care and counseling. Maor is currently revising their doctoral dissertation on images of violent speech in Psalms for publication. They have previously worked for Dayenu: A Jewish Call to Climate Action, Park Slope Jewish Center, and Union Theological Seminary. Maor is a proud Conservative rabbi, trained spiritual director, and native North Carolinian. They enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, gardening, singing, and playing the drums in Elon's student-led "Shabband."
