Brief Biography

Renay Aumiller is an Associate Professor of Dance at Elon University, a Registered Yoga Teacher, and a Franklin Method Educator. An artist and scholar, she specializes in phenomenological approaches to dance education and choreography practices. Aumiller's choreography has been showcased at festivals in the United States, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Canada, Pakistan, Serbia, Taiwan, and Italy. She is also a published author on dance education and mentoring in the performing arts, with her research presented at notable conferences including the National Dance Educators Organization, the Somatic Dance Educators Conference, the NC Dance Educators Organization, and the American College Dance Association conferences across various regions, as well as Northeast Normal University in Changchun, China. Aumiller holds an MFA in Choreography from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a BA in Dance Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Uniqueness: This innovative collaboration between myself and Evan Carr, an Elon alumnus with a degree in game design, is one of the first dances to integrate augmented reality (AR) into choreography to enhance the viewer experience.
