Catherine Chiang

The recipient of the 2015 Love School of Business Dean's Excellent in Teaching Award and the 2021 Dean's Award for Exemplary Service.

The first (and the only) Asian-American woman who has ever held the position of Academic Council Chair at Elon.

Dr. C. Catherine Chiang received her Ph.D. degree from the City University of New York (CUNY), Master of Accounting degree from UNC-Chapel Hill, and MS in Management degree with a concentration in Management Information Systems from NC State.  She has more than 25 years of teaching experience in higher education.  Prior to joining Elon, she taught at CUNY- Baruch College, Greensboro College, and North Carolina Central University.  She has published articles in the Journal of Accounting and Public Policy, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, and Long Range Planning, among others.  She has been on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Forensic and Investigative Accounting since 2018 and the International Journal of Organizational Innovation since 2009.  Her research focuses on Big Data, fraud prediction, intangible assets, diversification strategies, and the capital market valuation of accounting numbers. 

Prior to pursuing an academic career, she was a full-time audit professional at a public accounting firm.  She is a registered CPA in North Carolina.
