Brief Biography
Music Theory, Aural Skills, and Horn - MM
Lynn Huntzinger Beck is a hornist with the Greensboro and Winston-Salem Symphonies. She has enjoyed a long career as a commercial musician that includes international touring and five years of performances on the west coast with Frank Sinatra, regular engagements in Las Vegas with Tony Bennett, Burt Bacharach, Dionne Warwick, and Bernadette Peters, and recent performances in North Carolina with Andrea Bocelli, Sting, Johnny Mathis, Ben Folds, and the national touring companies of Wicked, Funny Girll, and The Wiz.
Formerly Principal Horn with the Nevada Symphony, she has also performed with the Knoxville, North Carolina, and Charlotte Symphonies, and has appeared as a soloist at the International Horn Society Workshop.
Before moving to North Carolina, Ms. Beck was the Horn Professor and Music Theory Coordinator at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. As a member of the Sierra Wind Quintet, she toured extensively and was involved with many commission and recording projects. Ms. Beck is featured as a chamber musician on recordings distributed by Equilibrium, Centaur, and Cambria.
At Elon, Ms. Beck teaches music theory, aural skills, and horn. She has also served as a member of the music theory faculty at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Salem College, and as Education Director for the Greensboro Symphony. She holds performance and education degrees from the Eastman School of Music and the University of Southern California, and studied horn with Verne Reynolds, James Decker, and Vincent DeRosa.
