Jeff Clark presents paper on Smith Normal Form

The professor of mathematics presented at the annual meeting of the Southeastern Section of the Mathematical Association of America.

Jeff Clark, a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, presented a paper on March 25 entitled “No Fractions:  Integer Solutions for Linear Equations” describing the use of the Smith Normal Form of an integer matrix in solving Diophantine equations, including applications to the computation of integer homology groups.

While at the conference Clark also served as a judge of undergraduate student presentations.
