Our literacy teachers use the Orton-Gillingham method, an evidence-based approach built specifically for children with dyslexia. Every lesson is explicit, sequential, and multi-sensory: your child sees it, hears it, and feels it at the same time.
Dyslexic brains process language differently, and decades of research shows that Orton-Gillingham-trained teachers help children with dyslexia become confident readers.
In a classroom with a dozen students, your child’s teacher knows exactly where they are, what is working, and what needs to change. Literacy groups are even smaller. Lessons are adjusted in real time, not at the next planning session.
The average U.S. elementary classroom holds 24 to 28 students. Children with dyslexia thrive with real-time responsiveness. A class of 12 makes it possible.
Students at Roberts Academy follow individual learning plans designed around the way they learn. Your child’s teachers assess where they are, set clear goals, and adjust instruction as they grow. This is not one-size-fits-all.
You will see exactly what is working. We measure growth continuously and share it with you through ongoing communication, conferences, and strategies you can use at home. You will know where your child is, what is clicking, and what comes next.
Your child attends a full school day with art, science, outdoor learning, and more. Literacy is woven through every subject. When your child succeeds across every subject, confidence follows.
This is not a permanent placement. Most children attend for 2 to 3 years, then return to their home school reading at or above grade level. We coordinate with your local school from day one so the transition is planned, supported, and successful.
A formal diagnosis is not required to apply. We serve grades 3 and 4 starting in Fall 2026, and grades 1 through 6 starting in Fall 2028.
