Program Goals

1. To give instruction in the Chinese language at the undergraduate levels. These courses will provide opportunities and serve as a communication and research resource to students with special interests in disciplines such as humanities, fine arts, business, and social sciences.

2. Introduction to Chinese culture through courses in English. Such courses impart students the fundamental education to embrace diversity and to be multiculturally aware.

3. Equip students with the qualifications for career opportunities. Provide work preparation in international business, translation, and interpreting skills.

4. Give exposure to students through cultural events organized within the Chinese community. Coordinate interactions between Elon University and the Chinese community.

Language assessment exams will be offered for NEW STUDENTS ONLY according to the following schedule. NOTE: For students planning to take the assessment in French, German, Italian, Latin and/or Spanish, in order to guarantee that you have a seat, sign up for an appointment at the following link.  If you just show up, we cannot guarantee you a spot.
