Psychology Lab Facilities in Long


Social/Cognitive/Personality (SCOPE) Lab

Faculty:  Meredith Allison, Kim Epting, Paul Fromson, Tom Green, Maurice Levesque, Alan Scott, and Gabie Smith

The SCOPE Laboratory occupies approximately 1100 sq. ft. in Long Building. It provides a research space for faculty and undergraduate research students. The seven room suite includes one faculty office, a conference/waiting room for faculty-student research meetings, a work room for student researchers, a video control and transcription room, and three data collection rooms. The data collection rooms and conference area are equipped for videotaping and can be used for various data collection techniques including interviews, surveys, and dyadic and small group interactions. Several desktop computers provide access to the Elon library's extensive collection of online psychology journals and to statistical analysis packages.

Developmental and Applied Psychology Lab

Faculty:  Chris Leupold, Maureen Vandermaas-Peeler, and Linda Wilmshurst

The Developmental and Applied Psychology Laboratory occupies approximately 1000 sq. ft. in Long Building.  It provides a research space for three faculty persons and undergraduate research students.  The seven-room suite includes one faculty office, a conference/waiting room for faculty-student research meetings, a work room for student researchers, a video control room, a video transcription room, and two data collection rooms. The data collection rooms are equipped for videotaping and can be used for various data collection techniques including interviews, surveys, and dyadic and small group interactions. Neuroscience Lab

Faculty: Mat Gendle, Duane McClearn, and Amy Overman
  
The department’s neuroscience lab provides space for faculty and students engaging in human neuroscience research.  Space includes rooms specialized for neurocognitive testing and assessment, electrophysiological (EEG/ERP) measurement, and the collection and analysis of various physiological parameters (such as systemic lipid levels) that are associated with aspects of cognition and behavior.  Several Core 2 Duo computers provide access to statistical packages, specialized data analysis software, and specialized cognitive assessment software.
 

Educational Psychology Lab

Faculty: Alexa Darby, Katie King, Buffie Longmire-Avital
 
The Educational Psychology Lab is a two-room suite providing space for faculty and students conducting research on education, development, and the scholarship of teaching and learning. Current projects include studies of teachers' emotions, a study of the impact of a sophomore transitions program, and a study of college faculty identity. The work room is equipped with audio and video recording equipment and two computers used for transcription and analysis of qualitative and quantitative data. The conference/waiting room accommodates both small group discussions and individual work.
