Robert Buchholz is the Assistant Vice President for Facilities Management/ Director of Physical Plant. He is responsible for the leadership and management of the Landscaping/Grounds, Environmental Services, Physical Plant Operations, and Utilities.
He also served as Associate Vice President of Facilities Management for Temple University. At Temple University, he was responsible for the management of facilities and infrastructure at all Temple Campuses in the Philadelphia Region and Temple Health System. This included maintenance and repair, housekeeping, mail service, landscaping and the design, planning and construction for a complex of more than 12 million square feet. Prior to his six years with Temple University, he was a career Naval Officer in the Civil Engineer Corps for 26 years, retiring as Captain. He held various assignments in overseeing the management of the naval bases including planning, design and construction, maintenance and repair of infrastructure. In his last positions he served as the Regional Engineer for the Northwest Florida Naval Region in Pensacola, Florida and he was the Chief Operating Officer for a Regional Engineering Office San Francisco the responsible for all naval capital projects, environmental compliance, real estate and major base planning in northern California and adjacent states. During his career, he was stationed overseas in the Philippines, Guam, Spain and Lebanon.
A North Carolina native, he attended North Carolina State University where he obtained a degree in civil engineering. He has a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle. He is a professional engineer. He is active in NCAPPA.
