Leadership Studies Award

The Leadership Studies Award is awarded annually to the senior Leadership Studies minor who has best exemplified the study of leadership as an academic discipline through excellence in related coursework, research and/or other scholarly contributions.

My name is Chris Leupold, and I am the Isabella Cannon Professor of Leadership and Professor of Psychology at Elon University. I am also the Coordinator of the Leadership Studies minor, and it is my great privilege and honor today to award Morgan Shapero the Leadership Studies Award for 2019-2020.

Morgan is a psychology major and a leadership studies minor. She is also earning a minor in communications I had the joy of having Morgan in my Psychology of Leadership class, where she consistently demonstrated an exceptional ability not only to master material but to generate new questions and critique research studies. She was an excellent contribute to classroom discussions and always kept me on my toes. She was always one step ahead.

I also asked Morgan to work with me in my research lab to create an assessment center, which is an integrated process to assess leadership skills in students as they prepare to embark upon their professional careers. She also helped me on a project that looked at trust in organizations, specifically in leadership and how that impacted employee and organizational performance. Morgan is an outstanding worker and consistently overdelivered on anything I ever asked. She is an absolute joy to have in my lab and I am so very proud of her for all that she has done and I look forward to the great things that will come in the future.
