Students in this course work in small groups to identify an ecological research question, develop hypotheses and predictions, design a simple experiment, collect quantitative data to test their predictions, analyze their data, and then communicate their findings via a formal research presentation and research paper. Students prepare for their project-focused work with hands-on lab activities throughout the semester that introduce the different parts of the research project. Students in this course prepare formal, conference style presentations to share their project findings, and they also write journal-style research papers on their projects.
