Accreditation Status

The Elon nursing program is approved by the North Carolina Board of Nursing and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. The North Carolina Board of Nursing establishes the standards for nursing education programs preparing for nursing licensure. These standards are designed to ensure that graduates have the necessary education to safely and competently practice nursing. Students who graduate from this program will be able to take the National Council Licensure Examination, NCLEX.

In pursuit of excellence, we began seeking national accreditation with the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) during 2023. The NLN Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) promotes excellence and integrity in nursing education globally through an accreditation process that respects the diversity of program mission, curricula, students, and faculty; emphasizes a culture of continuous quality improvement; and influences the preparation of a caring and skilled nursing workforce. As of February 2025, the following statement was received:

  • “The Elon University Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Program holds initial accreditation from the National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA), located at 2600 Virginia Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20037. 202-909-2487.”
