Newman Civic Fellows Award

The Campus Compact Newman Civic Fellows Award is a national award that recognizes students who inspire and engage others through their work to provide long-term solutions for social issues in their communities. This award is made in honor of Dr. Frank Newman, one of Campus Compact’s founders, who was a tireless advocate for the role of higher education in preparing students for active and engaged citizenship.

Mary Morrison, Assistant Dean of Campus Life & Director of the Kernodle Center for Civic Life

Hello, I’m Mary Morrison with the Kernodle Center for Civic Life.

It is my pleasure to announce this year’s Newman Civic Fellow.  The Newman Civic Fellowship is a year-long program for students from Campus Compact institutions that are leaders on their campuses that care about the issues facing local, national and international communities.

This year’s recipient is passionate about voting rights and voter registration.  She served on the Elon Votes! team and was a Voting Ambassador.  It is my pleasure to announce that this year’s Newman Civic Fellow is Anna Gillespie.
