Hello, I am Connie Book, President of Elon University, and I am pleased to join you in celebrating Elon’s student leaders and presenting the 2021 William Moseley Brown Leadership Award.
The William Moseley Brown Leadership Award is presented to a student who consistently demonstrates the highest ideals and principles of Omicron Delta Kappa: scholarship, service, integrity, character, and fellowship including providing distinguished leadership to his or her peers. The award is named in honor of a former Elon faculty member who was one of the original founders of the national chapter of OΔK.
It gives me great pleasure to present the 2021 William Moseley Brown Leadership Award to Eukela Little. Eukela is an Odyssey Scholar from Charlotte, North Carolina and has taken full advantage of her time at Elon as a very active student on campus, serving across a host of organizations and councils like Elon Academy, the CREDE, the President’s Student Leadership Advisory Council, and as a member Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, to name a few.
Eukela stays very busy as a Psychology major with double minors in African and African American Studies, and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies, and is a recipient of Elon’s prestigious Lumen Prize, researching the intersectionality of race and gender for Black women alongside her mentor, Dr. Buffie Longmire-Avital.
One of Eukela’s nominators shared that “Eukela is a role model who takes the time to listen to people, understands where they are, and then finds unique and caring ways to support them. She is extremely dedicated to everything she puts her mind to and is a leader in many areas across campus. Eukela also pushes each one of her organizations to make sustainable, equitable change. She has an incredible character and serves all those around her.”
Congratulations to Eukela Little on receiving the 2021 Elon Circle of Omicron Delta Kappa William Moseley Brown Leadership Award!
