Brief Biography
Reverend Kirstin C. Boswell is the University Chaplain and Dean of Multifaith Engagement. Prior to this appointment, she served as the Associate Dean of Student Support Services and the Associate Chaplain at Brown University, the Chaplain to the Institute and Director of the Office of Religious, Spiritual, and Ethical Life at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the Associate Chaplain at Bentley University, and the Director of Operations for The International Association of Black Religions and Spiritualities, at the University of Chicago.
Reverend Boswell completed her undergraduate work at The University of Virginia and holds a Master of Divinity (MDiv) from The University of Chicago Divinity School. She is currently completing her doctoral dissertation in Anthropology and Sociology of Religion at the University of Chicago, where her writing focuses on the Black Church, viewed through the lenses of Womanist Theology, self-identity, and exile.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, Rev. Boswell has lived in London, England; Pella, Iowa; Chicago, IL; Boston, MA; and Providence, RI, but her family of three children and two dogs now calls Burlington, NC home.
