Lawrence Garber Jr.

Lawrence L. Garber, Jr. is Associate Professor and Chair of Marketing and International Businss. He holds a Ph.D. in business administration with a concentration in marketing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MBA from Yale University, an AB from Brown University, and he attended the Parsons School of Design for illustration and the Cleveland Institute of Art for painting. Previously, he taught at Appalachian State University, Boone, NC, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA), the Institute for Managememt Technology Ghaziabad (IMT), India, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  Prior to entering academe, Professor Garber was Senior Analyst in Marketing Sciences at Glaxo Pharmaceuticals, now GlaxoSmithKline, RTP, NC, and BBDO Advertising, NYC; and was for several years a freelance illustrator in NYC whose clients included Fortune and Barron’s financial magazines, and Viking-Penguin and Holt-Rinehart Winston Publishers.  Prior to this, he was Director of Admissions (final position) for six years at the Cleveland Institute of Art, Ohio.  His research interests include visual information processing, perception and persuasion, marketing communication and branding, nonprofit and arts marketing, marketing education, and the visual presentation of statistical data.  He has published in the Working Paper Series of the Marketing Sciences Institute, Transportation Journal, Journal of Marketing Communications, Advertising and Society Review, Food Quality and Preference, Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice and Marketing Education Review, among others. He serves as Associate Editor for the Journal of Consumer Marketing and on several editorial review boards including the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice and Marketing Education Review.
