Brief Biography

My scholarship involves cross-cultural research (in Italy, Colombia, and the United States) on how parenting affects adolescent well-being and how this information can improve the cultural sensitivity of preventions and interventions with families. I also conduct research on the assessment and treatment of juvenile offenders, using this information to improve policy.

Current Projects

My research lab is currently investigating cultural factors that influence parenting practices (both positive and negative), adolescent emotion regulation, and psychological adjustment (e.g., depressive, aggressive, and anxiety symptoms) among youth from three countries (Italy, Colombia, and the United States).

Other projects in my research lab include examinations of the development of and desistance from antisocial behaviors among adolescents. We are currently examining factors, such as maturity and openness to treatment, that are related to resilience among adolescents who come into contact with the legal system.
