Brief Biography
I am honored and excited to be back at Elon. My husband and I are proud Elon alumni and I am a first-generation college graduate. After earning my BFA in Music Theatre with minors in Psychology and Dance (2001), I received my Master’s degree in Expressive Therapies and Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 2003. In addition to 'talk therapy', I enjoy supporting a person’s choice to integrate expressive modalities, including art, dance/movement, drama, music, and writing, in the therapeutic process and believe strongly in how creativity and fun can help with processing thoughts and feelings, self-regulation, and goal setting.
I am a LCMHCS (Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor) and a NCC (National Certified Counselor) and spent 20+ years working within nonprofit community mental health as well as providing clinical supervision and presenting at conferences. I have additional training in Adlerian Psychology, Family Systems Theory, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Phase 1 Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics.
I strive to create a safe and welcoming space to encourage each unique and amazing person on their journey as they encounter the inevitable stressors and challenges that life presents, as well as celebrate resiliency and progress.
I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, games (board games and VR), learning, movies, and all things creative arts (especially music, theatre, and dance).
