Brief Biography
Denise Teeters serves as the Director of International Student Services at Elon University's Isabella Cannon Global Education Center. In this role, she leads initiatives that strengthen the experience of international students and scholars both on and off campus. As a Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO), Denise is responsible for institutional compliance with U.S. immigration regulations, including F and J visa advising. She works closely with students to help them navigate academic, professional, and post-graduate opportunities. She also partners with faculty and staff across campus to promote collaboration, enhance student support, and foster a globally inclusive community.
Denise began her career as an Interpreter and Community Liaison, advocating for Spanish-speaking families in education. In 2017 she joined Elon University to support the Elon Academy and Odyssey Programs through the Center for Access and Success. In 2022, she transitioned to the Isabella Cannon Global Education Center to support the international community.
She is an active member of the North Carolina Association of International Educators (NCAIE) and NAFSA: Association of International Educators.
Denise earned her B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and her M.A. in Higher Education from Appalachian State University.
