Brief Biography

Professor Hone earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Elon University. She was a North Carolina Teaching Fellow and taught in the Guilford County School district, prior to joining the faculty at Elon University in 2011. She earned her Master of Education in Elementary Education with a concentration in elementary math from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Professor Hone has worked as a consultant and coach to inservice teachers, and tutors elementary math when her schedule allows. At Elon, she teaches multiple courses in the teacher education program, such as elementary math methods, educational assessment, senior capstone seminar, and supervision of the professional experiences and student teaching. Hone seeks to spread a love of math teaching and learning to her students, who then go on to spread that to their students. Professor Hone enjoys working out, listening to audiobooks, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Rob, and their two children, Brennan and Callen.
