Janis Baughman

Janis Baughman has been with Elon University since 2004 and has been the Director of Student Involvement (formerly Student Activities) since 2006. In 2017 she was promoted to assistant dean. In her role, she leads a comprehensive student engagement team in developing clear pathways for student involvement and connection through campus-wide events and traditions, fraternities and sororities, and student organizations. Jains is responsible for overseeing the programmatic development of all major activities the department hosts for students, providing leadership around student engagement opportunities, supporting strong advising for the Student Union Board, fraternity and sorority governing councils, and working to implement recommendations from the 2016 Presidential Task Force on Social Climate and Out-of-Class Engagement. Prior to Elon, Janis was at the University of South Florida, where she completed her Master of Education degree. Her bachelor’s degree is from Providence College.
