Kirsten Carrier

Kirsten Carrier (she/her) joined Elon in Fall 2022 as the Assistant Dean of Campus Life and Director of Residence Life following a national search. She helps lead the efforts to enhance living and learning at Elon, a signature experience at the university and an important priority in the Boldly Elon strategic plan. She supervises the Residence Life department staff in their work around housing operations, facilities coordination, student leadership and development, and residential education and community development. She partners with academic affairs colleagues on support for Living and Learning Communities (LLCs), Faculty Directors/Faculty in Residence, and Linked Course Faculty. She also serves on the First-Year Experience (FYE) committee, the Residential Campus Advisory Committee (RCAC), Data Governance Committee, National Campus Programs committee, and has previous experience on Staff Advisory Council. 

Carrier has worked previously at Pitzer College, a residential liberal arts college that is part of the Claremont Colleges Consortium in Los Angeles, CA in a variety of Student Affairs and Residence Life positions since 2014.  At Pitzer, Carrier ran a three-year effort to develop and implement a co-curriculum that brings class-based structure to student learning outside of the classroom, aligning residence life and university priorities. She also served as the Chair and Co-Chair of Staff Council for over four years. Previously she worked at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and started her career in Residence Life at Pitzer College. Originally from Wisconsin, Carrier earned her bachelor’s degree in Spanish at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and her master’s degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs at Indiana University.
